Farming played a huge part in Rob’s formative years. Originally from Stoke on Trent, his career in agriculture started early on his school’s farm. He showed Gloucester Old Spot pigs on their behalf at both the Royal and Three Counties shows before his rebellious streak took him on a two-decade sabbatical from farming. After 15 years in finance and a brief sojourn in the car industry, Rob returned to agriculture via university.
As a graduate, Rob worked as a trial’s agronomist covering many of the UK’s major crop areas. “I gained a lot of experience with diseases and herbicide trials at the start of my career, which is very useful now within my role at Nickerson”.
Firsthand knowledge of managing a variety of crops end to end means Rob is ideally placed to offer his customers advice on the genetics that best suit their system. He is also a useful person to have on the end of the phone when conditions necessitate a quick change of plan.
