LG Diablo is a fully approved, dual-use spring barley with proven on farm performance and end user appeal.
The variety has shown consistent yield potential in the key malting barley growing areas of the East and North regions.
It is medium in height, similar to RGT Planet, with a strong agronomic profile. LG Diablo also has a very good disease resistance package reflected by having a very high untreated yield on the AHDB Recommended List.
LG Diablo has very good physical grain quality with high hot water extract; a trait heavily desired by the end user. It also has low grain nitrogen and a specific weight better than Laureate. The variety has been given full approval for both malt distilling and brewing by the Malting Barley Committee (MBC), which is an interesting prospect for growers and end users.
As well as being a dual use malting variety, LG Diablo also makes an excellent and high yielding feed barley.
LG Diablo has a high tillering capacity for suitability in a blackgrass situation.
