Nickerson Demo Day 2024 – Cambridgeshire

Jonathan Payne would like to welcome you to his summer cereals demo, kindly hosted by Burgess and Walker farms, and located just outside St Ives.

Plots are farm scale with 19 varieties of RL Winter Wheat drilled by Horsch and Claas on display. LG’s Ron Granger and Kurtis Scarboro will be on hand to walk guests through the demo plots and answer any questions on genetics or varietal suitability. LH Agro will be in attendance, along with Manns of Spaldwick who will be demonstrating some of the latest machinery from Claas and Horsch. Mount liming will be on hand to discuss soil health. Yara will also be present to answer any questions on nutrition or establishment as well as ADAS whose consultants are always happy to talk about the business side of farming.

The demo plots feature current AHDB recommended varieties as well as exclusive candidates coming through LGs breeding programme. High and low seed rate plots will be a feature as well as 3 different blends.
The plots were kindly drilled by Manns of Spaldwick, who supplied a Claas 870 Axion and a Horsch 6m Avaitar drill. This gives you a chance to see varieties drilled in a farm situation with 6 to 12m plots on view as well as the machinery that drilled them.

Limagrain will be running their usual moisture meter clinic – so remember to bring yours along!
Food and beer will be plentiful and served alongside first rate agronomic advice by Mr Payne himself and BASIS & NRoSO points will be available on the day.

We look forward to seeing you there!
